Pittsburgh, PA – Despite a coastal storm riding up the East Coast this weekend, western Pennsylvania will see little to no rainfall, according to the US National Weather Service Pittsburgh PA.

Forecasters say a weak cold front passing north of Pittsburgh this morning could spark a few light showers, but most areas will remain dry through Saturday and into Monday. Breezy conditions are expected at times, though no major weather disruptions are forecast.

The coastal low, also referred to as a nor’easter, will stay far enough east to spare western Pennsylvania from widespread rain. Forecast maps show a sharp east-to-west cutoff, with rainfall probabilities dropping quickly west of the Laurel Highlands.

Areas near Clarion and Dubois could see up to a tenth of an inch of rain, while Pittsburgh, Morgantown, and Wheeling are likely to remain mostly dry.

According to the Weather Service, the region’s next chance for measurable precipitation may not arrive until midweek, as the current pattern remains relatively quiet.
