Superior, AZ – A 57-year-old woman was rescued Thursday afternoon after breaking her ankle while hiking on the Picketpost Mountain Trail in Superior, according to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO).

PCSO Search and Rescue received a call around 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 14 reporting that the woman had suffered an injury on the popular hiking trail located just outside the town of Superior.

According to PCSO, Search and Rescue deputies and a BORSTAR paramedic responded to the scene and reached the woman on the trail. Officials said she was treated for her injuries and then hoisted to safety.

Authorities confirmed that the hiker was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

Picketpost Mountain Trail, known for its steep terrain and scenic desert views, can be challenging for some hikers, especially during warmer hours of the day.

The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office reminded hikers to always carry water, inform others of their plans, and prepare for the rugged desert terrain.
