Pierce County, WA – A Pierce County Sheriff’s Office major has been charged with two counts of vehicular assault following an off-duty collision in July that investigators say involved alcohol.
According to the Pierce County Prosecutor’s Office, Major Chad Dickerson was charged on October 22, 2025, after a DUI investigation tied to a crash that occurred on July 12. Authorities said the collision took place around 3:46 p.m. and involved two vehicles, resulting in injuries to Dickerson and to people in the other vehicle.
The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office acknowledged the charges in a public statement, saying it will begin an administrative investigation while the criminal case proceeds. Sheriff Keith Swank said updates will be provided once the internal review is complete.
