Tacoma, WA – A late-night police chase in Pierce County ended in dramatic fashion when deputies discovered one suspect trapped beneath a car early Sunday morning.

According to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began around 2:15 a.m. on September 22, when deputies responded to reports of three masked individuals in an SUV prowling near the 400 block of Wheeler Street South in Parkland. Deputies said the SUV was stolen and a short pursuit ensued.

The chase ended on the 1500 block of 99th Street East after the vehicle veered off the road. Three male suspects jumped out and attempted to flee. Deputies reported that an 18-year-old male was caught before he could jump a fence, while another 18-year-old was found trapped under the vehicle. A third suspect, a 16-year-old male, allegedly fled into a backyard and tried to convince deputies he lived there.

Authorities said the two 18-year-olds were booked into the Pierce County Jail on charges including possession of stolen property, resisting arrest, obstruction, and eluding. The 16-year-old was booked into Remann Hall.

Deputies credited a citizen’s call for helping them stop what could have been “a whole night of crime.”

The Sheriff’s Office urges residents to continue reporting suspicious activity in the community.
