Pierce County, WA – Deputies responded to a serious domestic violence incident on January 13 after a 911 text alert reported a man allegedly violating a protection order at the Ellyson Apartments on the 2100 block of 104th Street South.

According to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, dispatch received the call around 9:17 a.m. from someone unable to safely make a voice call. Deputies quickly confirmed that the suspect had a domestic violence no-contact order in place with a female victim and established probable cause for arrest.

When deputies arrived at the apartment, the suspect reportedly became uncooperative and attempted to grab a deputy’s gun several times, leading to a physical struggle. Authorities say the man then jumped from a third-floor balcony in an attempt to flee but was seriously injured in the fall.

Other deputies took the suspect into custody, and he was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. No deputies or bystanders were reported injured in the incident.

The Tacoma Police Department has taken over the investigation, which remains ongoing.
