Pierce County, WA – A stolen vehicle stop on Pacific Avenue led to multiple detentions and felony charges early Monday.

According to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began around 1 a.m. on March 24 in the 10800 block of Pacific Avenue, where a deputy identified a confirmed stolen vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. The driver allegedly fled a short distance before another deputy deployed stop sticks, successfully disabling the vehicle.

Authorities said four occupants exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. Two males were detained immediately, while a female passenger allegedly ran and hid nearby before being taken into custody. The driver allegedly jumped a 5-foot fence before deputies established a perimeter.

According to officials, a deputy monitoring the perimeter located a male matching the driver’s description. The individual allegedly denied involvement at first but was later identified as the driver and arrested after a brief struggle.

Investigators said the 19-year-old male was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, taking a motor vehicle without permission, eluding, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. A 17-year-old female was also arrested and booked into Remann Hall Juvenile Detention Center on charges including malicious mischief after allegedly breaking a patrol car window.

Two other passengers, ages 32 and 39, were released at the scene due to no probable cause for arrest.

The incident may affect early-morning commuters in the Pacific Avenue corridor, a key route for local traffic.
