Pierce County, Washington – Two separate burglary incidents over the weekend led to arrests in Parkland and Puyallup, prompting public safety reminders from deputies.

According to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 9:40 p.m. Feb. 8 to an apartment complex in the Parkland area for an active domestic violence burglary. Investigators say a 37-year-old man was allegedly attempting to break into a woman’s apartment while her children were inside and was making threats to harm them.

Witnesses reportedly pointed deputies to the suspect as he attempted to flee on foot. After a short pursuit, deputies captured the suspect after he fell to the ground. He was arrested and booked for domestic violence burglary in the second degree, resisting arrest, and malicious mischief in the second degree due to damage to the apartment’s front door.

In a separate case earlier that morning, deputies responded around 7:30 a.m. after a homeowner reported two individuals seen on surveillance cameras inside her fenced property. Deputies conducted an area check and located a cut fence leading to a neighboring storage facility in the 6600 block of 114th Avenue Court East in Puyallup.

Deputies reportedly heard suspects inside the storage area and observed two individuals throwing duffel bags over a fence before running. One 30-year-old man was later arrested near 112th Avenue East and Penston Drive East and booked for two counts of burglary in the second degree and obstructing a law enforcement officer.

Deputies recovered large duffel bags containing tools and three rifles. A second suspect remains outstanding.

The sheriff’s office urged storage unit owners to regularly inventory valuables, noting firearms and expensive tools are common burglary targets. The incidents occurred during a busy weekend for deputies across Pierce County.
