Pickaway County, OH – Authorities are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred late Tuesday, November 18, in Pickaway County, leaving one teen dead and another injured.
According to Sheriff Matthew O. Hafey, the crash happened around 11:46 p.m. near Welch Road and Lane Road. Deputies arrived to find a 2011 silver Volkswagen Jetta that had struck a tree after sliding off the right side of the roadway.
Deputies learned the vehicle had been traveling northbound on Welch Road when it slid through wet grass and collided with a tree.
The driver, Kyla M. Caudy, 18, of Lockbourne, Ohio, was taken to Mount Carmel Grove City Hospital by Scioto Township Fire and EMS, where she was later pronounced deceased.
The passenger, Ciara C. Rehann, 19, of Orient, Ohio, was transported to Grant Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Sheriff Hafey thanked the Commercial Point Police Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol, and multiple fire and EMS departments for their assistance at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office.
