Phoenix, Arizona – Temperatures in Phoenix soared to 113°F on Thursday, just two degrees shy of the daily record, as much of the Southwest endured another sweltering day of extreme heat.
According to the National Weather Service in Phoenix, Thursday’s high was 6 degrees above the seasonal average of 107°F. Yuma topped out at 109°F, while El Centro reached 112°F—both a few degrees below their respective records. While still dangerously hot, today marked a slight cooldown compared to earlier in the week, and forecasters expect a further dip of 2 to 4 degrees by Friday.
The extreme heat continues to pose a risk to vulnerable populations, including the elderly and those without reliable access to cooling. Locals are urged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor exposure, and check on neighbors and pets.
High temperatures are expected to stay above normal through the weekend, though no heat warnings are currently in effect. Updates will follow if advisory conditions return.
