Phoenix, Arizona – Triple-digit temperatures are returning across southern Arizona heading into the weekend, with Phoenix expected to hit 107°F by Saturday as monsoon activity shifts toward the state’s high terrain and southeastern border.

According to the National Weather Service in Phoenix, lingering showers and isolated thunderstorms remain possible Thursday morning over parts of southwest Arizona. However, rain chances drop below 10% by afternoon, with drier air and rising temps moving in Friday through early next week.

In Phoenix, highs will climb from 102°F Thursday to 107°F Friday and Saturday, near seasonal averages. Yuma will warm from 103°F to 108°F by Sunday, while El Centro follows a similar trend, peaking around 108°F through early next week. Despite the daytime heat, overnight lows will remain mild.

Thunderstorm chances will be mostly confined to the higher elevations—including the Rim and White Mountains—and southeastern counties like Cochise and Graham starting this weekend.

Residents should take precautions during peak afternoon hours, especially where moderate heat risk levels are expected. Stay hydrated, limit outdoor exposure, and check on vulnerable populations.

Heat remains the primary concern into next week, with additional updates likely if thunderstorm activity re-emerges.
