Phoenix, Arizona – Temperatures across the Valley will start the week running above normal before gradually cooling closer to seasonal levels by midweek, as a series of weak weather systems pass through the region with only limited rain potential.

According to the National Weather Service in Phoenix, highs will begin in the upper 60s to low 70s early in the week before easing back into the mid- to upper 60s by Wednesday and Thursday. Overnight lows will also trend slightly cooler, especially toward the end of the workweek, though conditions remain mild for early January.

A weak weather disturbance late Sunday into Monday may bring a small chance for light showers, mainly favoring higher terrain across Arizona. Any rainfall in the Phoenix metro is expected to be spotty, with chances remaining low. Additional systems passing south of the area and through the Four Corners region midweek could bring breezy conditions while reinforcing the gradual cooldown.

Cities across the region including Phoenix, Yuma, Gila Bend, Globe, and Blythe will see similar trends, with temperatures settling closer to normal by late week. Despite the cooler shift, no significant cold snaps are expected.

Looking ahead, the broader pattern favors a return to warmer and drier conditions. An area of high pressure is expected to build across much of the western U.S. during the 8–14 day period, bringing above-normal temperatures and below-normal precipitation chances back to Arizona.

Residents should enjoy the mild weather now, remain aware of occasional breezy periods, and stay tuned for updates if shower chances increase later in the week.
