Phoenix, AZ – Strong winds are sweeping across parts of central Arizona this morning, prompting a Wind Advisory through noon for the higher terrain east of the Phoenix Metro area. According to the National Weather Service in Phoenix, gusts of 35–45 mph are expected, especially in areas near Roosevelt, Superior, and Globe.

The advisory, in effect from 5 a.m. to 12 p.m. MST, warns of difficult driving conditions for high-profile vehicles and the potential for unsecured outdoor items to become airborne. Winds are expected to ease by early afternoon as the system weakens.

Forecasters caution residents to secure patio furniture, decorations, and trash bins ahead of the strongest gusts. Drivers on U.S. 60 and other east–west routes should use extra caution, particularly through mountain passes and open desert stretches.

Calmer, sunny conditions are forecast to return later today and continue into the weekend.
