Phoenix, AZ – Thunderstorms are expected to hit Phoenix early Friday morning, bringing gusty winds and the possibility of heavy rain. Residents should prepare for wet and potentially hazardous road conditions, especially during the morning commute on major highways like I-10 and Route 60.

According to the National Weather Service, there is a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms beginning around 8 a.m. Friday. The storms are expected to continue through late morning, accompanied by gusts as high as 30 mph. Motorists should be cautious of slick roads and reduced visibility during peak commute hours.

Showers may taper off by noon, but breezy conditions will persist throughout the afternoon as temperatures reach a high near 80°F. Winds from the south will increase to 15 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph, making for challenging driving conditions along open stretches of road such as I-17.

Friday night will see clearer skies, but winds will remain breezy, with gusts of up to 25 mph and temperatures dropping to 54°F.

Thunderstorms are expected to clear by Saturday, ushering in a sunny weekend. Saturday will be cooler with a high near 75°F, and Sunday will see temperatures rise to 80°F under clear skies.
