Phoenix, Arizona – Phoenix is entering a dangerous stretch of excessive heat, with temperatures expected to soar above 100°F every day through the weekend, peaking at 110°F by Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in Phoenix, the city will hit 102°F Monday and climb steadily throughout the week—reaching 107°F Thursday, 109°F Saturday, and 110°F on Sunday. Overnight lows will offer little relief, staying in the mid-70s to low 80s.

The heat dome will affect much of central and southern Arizona, including Maricopa, Pinal, and Pima counties. With humidity below 20% and little wind, the risk for heat illness is high. Residents are urged to avoid outdoor activity between noon and 6 p.m., stay hydrated, and check on elderly neighbors or those without AC. Power grid demand is also expected to surge.

This extended heat event is typical of late June in Phoenix but remains dangerous, especially for outdoor workers and vulnerable populations.

The heat will continue through at least Sunday, with no significant cooling trend in sight. The NWS may issue additional advisories as the weekend approaches.
