Phoenix, AZ – Triple-digit heat is pushing Arizona into dangerous territory this week, with Phoenix and Yuma reaching 114°F on Sunday and El Centro topping out at 115°F. The intense heat is expected to remain through Friday, with the hottest days pegged for Sunday and Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service in Phoenix, temperatures will run 5–10 degrees above normal this week, fueled by mostly sunny skies and a weak weather system that will bring only slight relief early in the week. Highs across the lower deserts will stay between 110°F and 115°F, while overnight lows linger in the mid-70s to mid-80s—offering little nighttime recovery.

The prolonged heat will bring widespread moderate to major heat risk, especially in urban areas and for those without adequate cooling. Residents are urged to avoid outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Employers should ensure outdoor workers have access to shade and frequent breaks.

Though a brief dip in temperatures is expected Monday through Wednesday, the heat will rebound by Thursday, maintaining elevated health risks.

⚠️ Heat advisories remain in effect across South-Central and Southeastern Arizona through Friday. Additional alerts may be issued.
