Phoenix, Arizona – Dangerously high temperatures across the Phoenix metro area are expected to reach up to 113°F by Saturday, triggering an Extreme Heat Warning in effect until 8 p.m. Saturday and a Heat Watch beginning Tuesday for another multi-day stretch of triple-digit highs.
According to the National Weather Service in Phoenix, afternoon temperatures are expected to spike between 109°F and 114°F through Saturday evening, with heat index values possibly hitting 117°F. The warning covers Maricopa County, including cities like Chandler, Glendale, Scottsdale, Mesa, Avondale, and Tempe.
Heat-related illnesses can set in quickly during prolonged exposure. Officials urge residents to avoid outdoor activity between noon and 6 p.m., stay hydrated, and seek air-conditioned spaces. Public cooling centers are open across the Valley, and residents can dial 2-1-1 for locations.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) also recommends frequent shaded breaks for outdoor workers. Symptoms of heat stroke include confusion, dizziness, and unconsciousness—call 911 if anyone shows signs.
