PHOENIX, Ariz. – Another round of dangerous heat will grip the Valley on Sunday, with highs reaching 109°F under sunny skies. Overnight lows will stay uncomfortably warm, hovering near 88°F, offering little overnight relief. The National Weather Service’s Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect until 8 p.m. Tuesday for much of central Arizona, including Phoenix and surrounding cities.
According to the National Weather Service, light winds in the morning will increase from the west in the afternoon, adding to heat stress for anyone working or spending time outdoors. Residents are urged to limit strenuous activity during peak heating, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors.
The heat wave continues into Monday and Tuesday, with daytime highs climbing to 110°F and 111°F respectively. Overnight lows will remain in the upper 80s, compounding the risk for heat-related illnesses. Cooling centers across Maricopa County remain open and accessible to the public.
While temperatures may slightly ease by Thursday, only a slim 10% chance of storms offers any hope of relief. Heat warnings could be extended if the trend continues.
