Phoenix, AZ – The National Weather Service in Phoenix has issued a Freeze Warning for higher-elevation communities east of the metro area, in effect from 12 AM to 9 AM Thursday.
The warning includes Globe/Miami, San Carlos, Roosevelt, and Sunflower, where overnight lows are forecast to dip into the mid-20s to low 30s. Similar cold conditions are expected again Friday morning.
Residents are urged to take precautions to protect sensitive plants, outdoor pets, and exposed plumbing from the cold. The NWS also notes that freezing temperatures could pose added hardship for unhoused individuals and anyone without proper shelter.
While Phoenix itself will stay slightly warmer — around the low 40s overnight — nearby rural and mountain areas are expected to experience freezing or sub-freezing conditions.
Officials recommend bringing pets indoors, covering outdoor vegetation, and checking on vulnerable neighbors as the cold settles in overnight.
