Phoenix, Arizona – Drivers across the Valley have a narrow window this morning before heat near 100°F and blowing dust cut visibility and strain travel by the late afternoon commute.
According to the National Weather Service in Phoenix, morning low temperatures stayed unusually warm, ranging from 65°F in Mesa to 75°F in Phoenix and Goodyear, with Scottsdale at 70°F and Deer Valley at 68°F. Casa Grande, Gila Bend, and Yuma all held near 72°F. Afternoon readings will climb rapidly into the mid-90s to around 100°F under hazy skies, with localized wind gusts reaching 20 to 30 mph.
In Phoenix and along the I-10 corridor toward Casa Grande and Gila Bend, pockets of lofted dust could drop visibility below one mile between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Drivers should slow down, avoid sudden braking, and be prepared for quick visibility changes, especially near open desert stretches. In the East Valley, including Mesa and Scottsdale, heat will build quickly after noon, increasing dehydration risk for outdoor workers and hikers.
Utilities may see increased demand as cooling systems ramp up early in the season. Residents should hydrate frequently, limit strenuous activity during peak heat, and secure loose outdoor items ahead of gusty winds.
Hazy conditions and elevated temperatures will persist through sunset, with additional advisories possible if winds strengthen into the evening hours.
