Phoenix, AZ – The National Weather Service in Phoenix is warning that a surge of tropical moisture could bring heavy rainfall to Arizona later this week, as remnants of Hurricane Priscilla move north from the Pacific.

According to the US National Weather Service Phoenix, the remnant moisture plume will likely reach Arizona by Thursday, increasing the potential for widespread rain through the weekend. The heaviest rainfall is expected from Friday into Sunday, with totals potentially reaching several inches in some areas.

Meteorologists say moisture levels could rise to 200–300% above normal, especially across southeast California and western Arizona before shifting into central portions of the state. The increased moisture could lead to localized flooding, particularly in low-lying and urban areas.

The NWS noted a wide range of uncertainty in rainfall totals, with model projections varying from as little as a tenth of an inch to more than 2.5 inches. Still, forecasters emphasize that even modest rainfall rates could cause flash flooding in areas that receive heavier bursts.

Residents are urged to stay updated through the week and prepare for potential travel disruptions. Updated forecasts and alerts are available at weather.gov/phoenix.
