Arizona – Desert air warms quickly after sunrise across Phoenix this morning as clear skies stretch over the Valley and temperatures begin a steady climb toward the first strong burst of March heat. Calm conditions early will give way to increasingly warm afternoons, with the desert sun pushing temperatures sharply higher over the next few days.

According to the National Weather Service in Phoenix, sunny skies dominate the region as a high-pressure pattern builds across Arizona. Afternoon temperatures reach around 84°F today, then surge even higher by the end of the workweek.

Phoenix, Tempe, Mesa, and Glendale will see the most noticeable temperature jump heading into Friday. Highs are expected to reach near 91°F Thursday before climbing to around 94°F Friday, marking one of the warmest stretches so far this year.

Drivers traveling along Interstate 10, Loop 101, and Loop 202 may notice rising pavement temperatures during the afternoon commute. While skies remain clear, the strong desert sun can quickly warm vehicles and outdoor surfaces. Keep water nearby if spending time outside.

To be fair, mornings will still feel comfortable for now. Overnight lows drop into the upper 50s and near 60 degrees before sunrise, offering a brief window of cooler desert air.

The warming trend continues through the weekend. Saturday reaches near 93°F, bringing classic early-spring warmth across central Arizona just as Spring Break travel increases across the Southwest.

Meteorologists are also watching longer-range signals pointing to even warmer conditions next week. Some areas of the lower desert could approach 100°F by early next week, an early reminder that Arizona’s hot season is not far away.

For now, expect quiet weather and abundant sunshine across the Phoenix metro area.
