Arizona’s desert air is already warm before midday, and heat is building quickly across Phoenix, where temperatures are climbing fast toward summer-like levels that will peak within the next 48 hours.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures are starting near 81°F with clear skies and dry air in place. Highs reach around 88°F today with breezy east winds up to 20 mph, before a stronger heat surge pushes temperatures into the mid-90s by Tuesday and Wednesday.
Across Maricopa County and along I-10 and Loop 101, dry roads and clear visibility support smooth travel, but the rising heat will become the primary concern. By Tuesday afternoon, highs jump to around 94°F, followed by a peak near 96°F Wednesday under full sun.
The rapid warmup increases the risk of heat-related illness, especially for outdoor workers, hikers, and anyone spending extended time outside. Hydration becomes critical, and shaded breaks are essential during peak afternoon hours.
Even overnight, temperatures only fall into the mid-60s, offering limited relief and allowing heat to build day after day. By Thursday, highs remain in the mid-90s before slightly easing later in the week.
Plan outdoor activities early in the day and avoid peak heat between late morning and early evening.
