Phoenix, Arizona – Temperatures across the Phoenix metro and central Arizona are pushing dangerous limits, with highs between 107 and 117 expected through Friday evening. Residents in Aguila, Gila Bend, Cave Creek, Fountain Hills, East Mesa, Apache Junction, and the Sonoran Desert National Monument face significant health risks as this extreme heat warning remains in effect.

According to the National Weather Service in Phoenix, the warning lasts until 8 p.m. Friday, covering Northwest and West Pinal County, Superior, Tonopah Desert, and more. The agency urges anyone working or spending time outdoors to take immediate precautions, as heat cramps, exhaustion, and even heat stroke are increasingly likely under these conditions.

Cities like Scottsdale and Casa Grande will see the worst impacts during peak afternoon hours. Major highways such as I-10, US 60, and SR 87 may also become hazardous, especially for those without reliable air conditioning. Local officials advise checking on neighbors, using cooling centers, and staying hydrated throughout the week.

To reduce your risk, reschedule strenuous activities to the early morning or after sunset, wear loose, light clothing, and take frequent breaks in the shade or indoors. Cooling shelters are open in many areas—contact Maricopa or Pinal County for locations. Anyone experiencing signs of heat stroke should seek emergency help immediately.

The extreme heat risk continues through at least Friday night. Additional advisories could follow if conditions worsen.
