Philadelphia, PA – Residents across Pennsylvania will experience an unusual cool down as temperatures dip to levels typically seen in late September and early October. The National Weather Service has reported that today’s forecast highs will be reminiscent of early fall, with Philadelphia expecting a high of 74°F, nearly 12 degrees below the usual August averages.
According to the National Weather Service Philadelphia/Mount Holly office, cities like Allentown and Reading will see highs of 70°F and 71°F, respectively, with nighttime lows dropping into the 40s and 50s. The cooler weather is part of a brief cold front moving through the region, causing temperatures to plummet.
Despite the unseasonable chill, this cool spell will be short-lived. Forecasts indicate that by Friday, temperatures will start to rise, with Philadelphia reaching 81°F. By the weekend, the region is expected to return to near-normal summer temperatures, with highs climbing back into the mid-to-upper 80s.
Residents are encouraged to enjoy the cooler weather while it lasts and prepare for warmer conditions as the week progresses. The unseasonable chill is a reminder that fall is just around the corner, but summer is not quite over yet.
