Philadelphia, PA – Thunderstorms and potentially damaging wind gusts are expected to affect the Philadelphia area Thursday night, as the National Weather Service issues a severe weather outlook for the region. The storm system is forecasted to bring a broken line of showers and embedded thunderstorms from the evening hours into the early morning on Friday.
According to the National Weather Service, the first round of showers will move through the area later this morning, bringing no significant impacts. However, the primary concern lies with the second round of storms, expected between 7 p.m. and 2 a.m. This round could bring intense thunderstorms with strong wind gusts that pose a risk to travel and outdoor activities.
The NWS cautions that while the chance of severe storms is low (generally around 10% or less for any area), those that do occur could bring hazardous winds. Residents are urged to stay informed and be prepared to take precautions if conditions worsen, particularly in areas with higher risks for severe weather.
