Philadelphia, Pa. – After a stretch of dry weather, rain chances are set to increase across eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware as two cold fronts move through the region this week.
According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, the first round of showers and scattered thunderstorms is expected Thursday evening into overnight. While the front will weaken as it arrives, most areas have at least a 20 percent chance of rain, with the highest risk in the Southern Poconos where probabilities climb above 60 percent.
Philadelphia, Wilmington, and Trenton may see showers Thursday night but rainfall is expected to remain light and spotty. Commuters along I-95 could face wet roads late Thursday into early Friday, though widespread impacts are not anticipated.
A second, stronger front will sweep in late Saturday into Sunday, bringing another round of showers and thunderstorms. Forecasters say this system could deliver steadier rainfall and gusty winds, especially across southeastern Pennsylvania and central New Jersey. Residents are urged to stay weather aware through the weekend and avoid unnecessary travel during heavier downpours.
Rain chances taper early next week, but forecasters note additional advisories could be issued as timing and storm strength become clearer.
