Philadelphia, PA – Drivers across Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic will get a brief break from unsettled conditions today, but a new round of light rain and snow is set to return by early Thursday, bringing the risk of slick roads and slower commutes into Friday.
According to the National Weather Service Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center, dry weather holds through today before precipitation develops early Thursday morning and lingers in waves through Friday. Total precipitation is expected to stay under a half inch, but colder pockets could see light snow mix in, especially across northern and higher elevations.
Across Pennsylvania, including Harrisburg and Allentown, early morning travel Thursday may turn slippery on untreated roads. In Philadelphia and surrounding counties, rain will dominate, but brief snow mixing cannot be ruled out during cooler overnight hours. New Jersey and Delaware will mainly see rain, though reduced visibility and wet roads could impact major corridors like I-95, the Pennsylvania Turnpike, and Route 1.
Rivers are continuing to recede after earlier rainfall, but smaller streams could see renewed rises of 1 to 2 feet. Emergency managers urge residents to avoid flooded roadways and monitor local alerts.
Conditions remain unsettled through Friday before another update on potential weekend weather changes.
