Philadelphia residents can expect high temperatures reaching up to 96°F today, marking one of the hottest days of the season. The National Weather Service’s July climate summary highlighted that July 2024 saw temperatures consistently above average, with Philadelphia hitting a peak of 98°F on July 16th.

The heatwave will persist into the weekend, with Friday’s high expected to reach 94°F. Saturday will bring some relief in the form of possible thunderstorms, with a 45% chance of rain in the afternoon. However, temperatures will still hover around 91°F, keeping conditions warm and muggy.

Sunday continues the trend with another 45% chance of scattered storms, as temperatures slightly dip to a high of 86°F. The beginning of the next week will see a slight break from the intense heat, with Monday’s high forecasted at 93°F under clear skies, and Tuesday bringing more mild conditions at 87°F.
