Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Sunshine dominates the skies across Philadelphia and surrounding areas this week, but residents should brace for a surge in humidity and rising temperatures by Thursday. Tuesday brings pleasant, mostly sunny conditions with highs ranging from 75°F to 85°F and notably low humidity, making for comfortable outdoor activities.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, a drier air mass lingers through Tuesday before a gradual uptick in humidity arrives Wednesday. Highs on Wednesday will reach 78°F to 86°F with a mix of sun and clouds, and a slightly stickier feel. By Thursday, temperatures climb to a sweltering 85°F to 92°F, and humidity becomes much more noticeable—setting the stage for what forecasters warn will be “oppressive heat” heading into Friday.

Travelers to the Jersey Shore and Delaware Beaches can expect only a low risk of dangerous rip currents, but are urged to stay hydrated and practice sun safety. For those in Bucks, Montgomery, and Chester counties, the heat and humidity will impact daily life, especially for outdoor workers and vulnerable populations.

Residents should check their local forecast at weather.gov/phi, limit strenuous activity during peak afternoon hours, and prepare for worsening heat as the week closes.

More advisories are possible as heat intensifies Friday; stay tuned for updates from the National Weather Service.
