Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Dense fog is creating low visibility across eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware early Wednesday, raising concerns for the morning commute before conditions improve later in the day.

According to the National Weather Service in Philadelphia/Mount Holly, fog developed overnight and will linger through the morning hours before gradually lifting by late morning. Once the fog clears, skies will turn partly cloudy, allowing for a milder afternoon across the region. High temperatures are expected to reach the mid to upper 40s across the Poconos and Lehigh Valley, with low to mid 50s common from Philadelphia south into Delaware and southern New Jersey.

As the fog dissipates, west to northwest winds will increase through the afternoon, with gusts ranging from 20 to 30 mph. These gusty winds could make it feel cooler at times and may impact high-profile vehicles on roadways such as I-95, the Pennsylvania Turnpike, Route 42, and the Atlantic City Expressway.

Winds are expected to weaken this evening as skies turn mostly clear overnight. While no widespread hazards are anticipated after the fog lifts, drivers are urged to remain cautious during the morning hours, especially in low-lying and river-adjacent areas where visibility may drop quickly.

Forecasters say quiet weather will hold into tonight, with additional updates expected as the next system approaches later in the week.
