Philadelphia, Pa. – Roads near the Delaware River could see flooding by Thursday night as a coastal flood advisory takes effect across southeastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey. Water levels may rise up to a foot above normal tides, putting low-lying areas and shoreline roads at risk for closures through early Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, the advisory begins at 11 p.m. Thursday and remains in place until 5 a.m. Saturday. Communities most vulnerable include Philadelphia, Lower Bucks, Camden, Gloucester, and northwestern Burlington counties, where tidal waterways could cause partial or full road closures.

In Philadelphia, minor flooding is expected along the Delaware River, particularly during high tide cycles Friday and Saturday. Burlington, N.J., may also see minor inundation during late-night and early-morning tide peaks. Drivers are urged to avoid traveling through flooded roadways, as water depth may be greater than it appears and can cause costly damage to vehicles.

Officials advise residents to secure vehicles away from low-lying areas and monitor tide gauges for updated water level impacts. The advisory may be extended if additional tidal flooding is projected into the weekend.
