PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Drivers in low-lying parts of Philadelphia and nearby New Jersey counties could face minor road flooding overnight as a Coastal Flood Advisory takes effect through early Saturday. Water levels may rise up to a foot above normal, especially along tidal waterways and the Delaware River.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, the advisory covers Philadelphia, Delaware, and Lower Bucks counties in Pennsylvania, as well as Camden, Gloucester, and northwestern Burlington counties in New Jersey. The risk runs from 11 p.m. Thursday until 5 a.m. Saturday, with the highest tide-related impacts expected during early morning and evening cycles.

Flooding is most likely on vulnerable roads near tidal waterways. In Philadelphia, the Delaware River is forecast to reach minor flood levels with water rising about two feet above normal during Friday morning’s high tide. Burlington is also projected to see similar minor flooding by Friday evening.

Officials caution residents not to drive through standing water, as depth can be misleading and may damage vehicles. Road closures are possible in flood-prone areas.

Conditions should improve by Saturday morning, though another round of showers and unsettled weather is possible by late Sunday into Monday.
