Philadelphia, PA – The Philadelphia Sheriff’s Office is offering free gun locks to residents as part of a continuing effort to promote firearm safety and reduce gun-related incidents across the city.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, residents can pick up a free gun lock at their headquarters on the 5th floor of 100 South Broad Street or call 215-686-3572 for more information. The program emphasizes responsible gun ownership by encouraging residents to securely store firearms, particularly in homes with children or vulnerable individuals.
The initiative, titled “Got a Gun – Get a Lock,” is part of the department’s broader violence prevention campaign, focusing on community safety through education and accessibility. Officials describe the locks as “one simple, life-saving solution” that can prevent accidental shootings and unauthorized firearm access.
Sheriff Rochelle Bilal’s office continues to expand outreach around safe gun storage, urging residents to take advantage of the program and help build safer neighborhoods throughout Philadelphia.
