Philadelphia, Pa. – Saturday will bring sunshine and seasonably mild air to Philadelphia with afternoon highs near 88 degrees, but officials warn that conditions remain dangerous for anyone heading to the Jersey Shore or Delaware beaches.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, a high risk of life-threatening rip currents continues along the Atlantic coast through Saturday, a lingering effect from Hurricane Erin despite its departure offshore. Minor coastal flooding is also expected, especially around the back bays of New Jersey and Delaware during high tide cycles.

In Philadelphia, residents will see pleasant summer conditions with readings in the mid-80s from Center City to the suburbs. Wilmington tops out near 82, while Atlantic City, Cape May, and Bethany Beach remain closer to 80 degrees. While the weather inland favors outdoor plans, forecasters urge caution for those considering beach trips. Swimmers are advised to stay out of the water or swim only where lifeguards are present, as rip currents remain strong and unpredictable.

The weather service cautions that hazardous surf could last into Sunday, with additional advisories possible if currents remain elevated.
