Philadelphia, PA – A surge of summer heat is returning to the Delaware Valley, with high temperatures expected to push into the upper 80s by Monday and a persistent risk for dangerous rip currents along area beaches. According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, high pressure will dominate the region through the rest of the weekend and into early next week, sending temperatures several degrees above seasonal norms for Philadelphia, Trenton, and much of South Jersey.

Sunday will see highs ranging from the low 80s at the coast to near 85°F for inland cities like Allentown and Trenton. By Monday, the region heats up further, with Philadelphia, Reading, and Vineland likely to reach 88-89°F and Atlantic City climbing into the mid-80s. Beach towns, including Cape May and Bethany Beach, will remain slightly cooler, but the threat of powerful rip currents remains elevated for swimmers and surfers. The National Weather Service urges anyone headed to the shore to use caution, swim near lifeguards, and avoid venturing into rough surf.

The warming trend means extra strain on utilities and added health risks for vulnerable groups. Residents should limit strenuous outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours and stay hydrated. The high-pressure system is expected to stick around into Tuesday, with only minor relief likely midweek. Additional weather advisories may be issued if conditions change.
