Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Overnight temperatures falling into the teens may push wind chills into the single digits across the region.

According to the US National Weather Service in Philadelphia/Mount Holly, tonight will bring another stretch of cold conditions as low temperatures drop into the mid-teens to low 20s across southeastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and northern Delaware.

Winds are expected to gradually lessen overnight. Gusts of 15 to 25 miles per hour early this evening will decrease to around 10 to 20 mph by Friday morning. Despite lighter winds, the combination of cold air and lingering breeze will result in wind chill values ranging from the single digits to the teens by daybreak.

Communities including Philadelphia, Camden, Mount Holly, and Wilmington are expected to experience the coldest readings before sunrise Friday.

Motorists traveling along Interstate 95, Interstate 76, Interstate 295, and Interstate 676 early Friday morning may encounter icy patches on untreated surfaces, particularly on bridges and overpasses where temperatures cool more rapidly.

Early commuters, students waiting at bus stops, and outdoor workers may feel the sharpest cold between midnight and 8 a.m. Friday.

The weather service did not indicate additional precipitation with this system, but officials advise dressing in layers and limiting prolonged outdoor exposure during the coldest hours.

Conditions are expected to moderate slightly after sunrise as winds continue to ease and temperatures gradually rise through the morning.
