Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Light snow showers late tonight and another system Sunday night into early Monday could create slick travel conditions across parts of the region, especially north and northeast of the city.

According to the National Weather Service in Philadelphia/Mount Holly, scattered light snow showers are expected late tonight, mainly affecting areas north and northeast of Philadelphia. While widespread accumulation is not forecast, cold temperatures overnight may allow untreated roads to become slippery by dawn Saturday, including stretches of I-95, I-76 and I-476.

Forecasters say that although a light coating is possible in some locations, the probability of 1 inch or more of snowfall remains below 15% across the entire region.

A second system is expected to pass to the south and southeast late Sunday into early Monday. The exact track remains uncertain. Marginal temperatures could allow the northern fringe of the system to see some snowfall, while areas closer to the storm’s center may experience mainly rain.

The National Weather Service notes that snowfall amounts and precise locations remain highly uncertain at this time. While most guidance suggests minimal accumulation, a few inches of wet snow cannot be ruled out in a low-probability scenario, particularly in northern sections of the forecast area.

For commuters, even light snowfall combined with cold pavement temperatures may result in reduced traction during early morning travel periods. Students and early-shift workers should monitor updated forecasts if traveling before sunrise.

Residents are encouraged to check for forecast updates through the weekend as track and temperature changes could alter snowfall expectations.
