Sergeant Teresa Vaal was patrolling State Road 66 in Tell City on January 10 when she stopped a vehicle for a lighting violation. Police say the driver, identified as Hunter L. Johnson, 19, of Tell City, showed visible signs of impairment during the traffic stop.
According to police, Johnson was transported to Perry County Memorial Hospital for a chemical test before being taken to the Perry County Jail, where he was booked and held on bond.
Johnson was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated (Class A Misdemeanor) and Minor Consumption of Alcohol (Class C Misdemeanor).
Sergeant Vaal was assisted at the scene by Trooper Jack Fischer, officials said.
