Peotone, IL – Residents in and around Will County will have the opportunity to weigh in on the future of Interstate 57 as the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) hosts a public meeting this week regarding the I-57 Access Study.

The in-person event is scheduled for Tuesday, August 26, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Will County Fair Atrium, located at 710 S. West Street, Peotone, IL 60468.

According to the Illinois Department of Transportation, the I-57 Access Study aims to evaluate and recommend improvements to meet projected travel demand through the year 2050. The study covers I-57 from Wilmington-Peotone Road in Peotone to Manhattan-Monee Road in Monee, Illinois.

The meeting will include a presentation on the project’s purpose and need, a status update, and an opportunity for the public to provide feedback directly to IDOT officials. Public input is being sought to ensure that proposed improvements align with local needs and concerns.

Those unable to attend in person can also submit feedback by emailing AccessI57Study@gmail.com. A project webpage and subscription link for updates are available at Tiny.cc/AccessI57.

The outreach is part of IDOT’s broader planning efforts for long-term transportation infrastructure across Illinois. Officials have emphasized that input from local stakeholders is critical to developing a plan that supports mobility, safety, and economic growth.

The event is ADA accessible, and individuals requiring additional accommodations or language assistance are encouraged to contact the project team in advance.
