Lincoln, Ill. – Scattered thunderstorms could disrupt weekend plans across Central Illinois, with multiple rounds of rain expected through Saturday and more storms possible early next week.
According to the National Weather Service in Lincoln, a weak, slow-moving system will linger over the region today and Saturday, bringing scattered showers and a few thunderstorms with chances ranging from 50–70% Friday and 30–80% Saturday. Temperatures will remain seasonably warm, reaching the low 80s Friday and mid-80s Saturday.
Localized downpours may affect roads in areas like Springfield, Decatur, and Bloomington, especially during the afternoon and evening hours. While Sunday brings only a slight 20–30% storm risk, additional disturbances could spark new rounds of thunderstorms Monday and Tuesday. Daily highs are expected to climb steadily into the upper 80s by early next week.
Drivers should allow extra travel time during storms, and residents are encouraged to keep phones charged in case of power outages or alerts. Overnight conditions will stay mild and humid, with lows in the upper 60s to low 70s.
Showers and storms remain possible through Tuesday, with more active weather likely later in the week.
