Peoria, IL – Peoria police arrested four juveniles Thursday evening after recovering a stolen vehicle and briefly pursuing multiple suspects on foot on the city’s West Side.
According to the Peoria Police Department, officers responded around 6:10 p.m. Thursday to a report of a motor vehicle theft that had just occurred in the 1100 block of West Thrush Street. A short time later, officers located the stolen vehicle abandoned in the 2100 block of Underhill Street.
Police said seven male subjects were seen fleeing the area on foot when officers made contact. Following a brief foot pursuit, officers apprehended four suspects in the 1200 block of West Brons Avenue.
Authorities said those taken into custody included three 16-year-old males and one 17-year-old male. All four were transported to the Peoria Police Department for interviews.
According to police, the juveniles were arrested on charges including Motor Vehicle Theft, Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Criminal Damage to Property, and Resisting a Peace Officer. One of the 16-year-olds was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center, while the remaining three juveniles were released to the custody of their legal guardians.
The incident occurred within Peoria County, located in central Illinois and part of the greater Peoria metropolitan area.
