Officers were dispatched around 12:52 p.m. to the 2600 block of N. University Street, where they found a 19-year-old male victim inside a business with a graze wound to his leg. Police said the victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to investigators, members of the Criminal Investigations Division, Crime Scene Unit, and patrol officers identified Rico Jackson Jr., 20, as the alleged suspect. At about 2:43 p.m., Jackson Jr. was located in the 1200 block of W. Margaret Avenue and taken into custody without incident.
Following an interview, Jackson Jr. was arrested on several charges, including aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a handgun under 21, and no FOID card, police said. He was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
