Responding officers evacuated the building and learned that two adults and three children remained inside the affected unit. Authorities say the adults initially refused to leave, but officers safely escorted everyone out.

The suspects were identified as 22-year-old Tkeyah S. Murray and 36-year-old Curtis D. McBride. Both were arrested for aggravated arson and three counts of endangering the life or health of a child. They were transported to the Peoria County Jail.
