Officers were dispatched around 4:15 p.m. September 13 to the 2200 block of Willow Knolls Road after reports of a man possibly armed with a handgun. Police said they found the suspect, identified as Craig Ledel, lying outside the building. He was unresponsive but breathing. Nearby, officers located a backpack containing illegal drugs.
According to detectives, Ledel was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. During a subsequent search of his residence, the Peoria Police Department’s Special Investigations Division reported recovering illegal drugs, drug equipment, and two firearms.
Ledel was arrested on multiple charges, including obstructing justice, armed violence, unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance. Police also noted he had active warrants.
