Peoria, IL – A 23-year-old man was arrested Wednesday in connection with an attempted murder in Peoria.
According to the Peoria Police Department, officers responded to a report of a person shot on the 800 block of E. Virginia at approximately 12:52 p.m. Upon arrival, they found a 22-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the back. She was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Police identified the suspect as Deandre Ward, who reportedly fled the scene before officers arrived. During the investigation, officers discovered that Ward was also at the hospital, where he was taken into custody without incident. Ward has been charged with attempted murder and transported to the Peoria County Jail.
