A Peoria man was arrested on Friday, April 4, 2025, after allegedly fleeing from a hit-and-run incident and leading officers on a brief investigation.
According to the Peoria Police Department, officers attempted to stop a vehicle at approximately 4:27 p.m. in connection to a hit-and-run involving a pedestrian. The vehicle fled the scene at a high rate of speed, prompting police to not pursue. Shortly after, officers located the vehicle parked at a residence in the 3400 block of Richwoods Boulevard.
Officers made contact with the driver, identified as 22-year-old Devontay L. Pruitt. Pruitt was arrested on charges of fleeing police, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration, theft, and an active warrant. He was taken to the Peoria County Jail for processing.
