Peoria, Illinois — The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has scheduled nine major projects for the Peoria area, totaling nearly $351.1 million.

The projects are fueled by the Illinois Governor JB Pritzker’s Rebuild Illinois capital program. The department said that of the nine IDOT projects, five are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025. Three of the projects should be finished in 2026, and the final project will be done in 2027. The nine projects will focus on interstate and bridge repairs, modernizing roadway infrastructure.

The project for Illinois 8/116 Cedar Street bridge over the Illinois River is the second of three related projects that began in the spring and will be finished this summer. The Eastbound McClugage Bridge (U.S. 150) over the Illinois River replacement will be completed later this fall. Airport Road over I-474 bridge replacement will be done this fall as well, along with Illinois 17/91 over Spoon River bridge replacement. Illinois 78/97 near Havana bridge deck will be completed this summer.

The project for I-474 over Kickapoo Creek bridge replacement is one of the projects to be completed in 2026, as well as Illinois 180 through Williamsfield widening, resurfacing, drainage and guardrail improvements. The bridge replacement for I-74 over Spoon River will have structures completed in 2026 and paving work done in 2027.

Finally, the project to be completed in 2027 is for U.S. 24 from Kingston Mines to Banner resurfacing with drainage and guardrail improvements. That project will start in June.
