Peoria, IL – Peoria Police announced Wednesday that a 17-year-old male has been arrested in connection with an October 26 homicide that left a 20-year-old man dead and an 18-year-old woman injured.

According to the Peoria Police Department, detectives identified the teen during the course of their investigation into the October shooting. On December 11, 2025, officers located the suspect in the 600 block of E. Maywood Avenue. When officers approached, the juvenile allegedly fled on foot but was taken into custody a short time later in the 2700 block of N. Bigelow Street without further incident.

The 17-year-old was arrested and charged with multiple felonies, including:

  • First Degree Murder
  • Aggravated Battery with a Firearm
  • Aggravated Robbery/Forgery
  • Resisting/Obstructing Police

Investigators say the suspect also had four active warrants at the time of his arrest.

The original incident occurred around 8:18 p.m. on October 26, when officers were called to the 3200 block of N. Isabell for a report of a male shot inside a vehicle. Police found two victims inside a crashed vehicle near Isabell and Merle. The 20-year-old male driver was pronounced dead at a local hospital from a gunshot wound to the chest, while an 18-year-old female passenger sustained a non-life-threatening arm injury.
