
Peoria, IL – Two men were hospitalized after a violent home invasion Saturday evening on the 1400 block of W. Covington Court, according to Peoria Police.
Officers responded around 6:52 p.m. on October 25 after reports of a door being forcibly kicked in. Upon arrival, police found two adult males, ages 31 and 29, suffering from gunshot wounds to their legs. Both were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to the Peoria Police Department, members of the Criminal Investigations Division, Crime Scene Unit, and Patrol Unit responded to the scene. During their investigation, officers found 30-year-old Percy E. Cook III and 27-year-old Eugene Qualls inside the home. Both were taken into custody on unrelated charges and are not considered suspects in the shooting.
A subsequent search warrant led police to seize packaging materials, a digital scale, large quantities of cannabis, and cash believed to be linked to illegal drug activity. Qualls was found to have an active warrant for domestic battery, while Cook was arrested for possession of cannabis and intent to deliver. Both were booked into the Peoria County Jail.
