Peoria, IL – Peoria Police have arrested a 29-year-old man in connection with an August incident in which a shot was allegedly fired during a domestic dispute on the city’s north side. Detectives took the suspect into custody Friday afternoon after months of investigation.

According to Peoria Police, officers originally responded to the 4000 block of Brandywine at approximately 2:10 a.m. on Monday, August 11, 2025, after receiving a report of a man armed with a handgun. When officers arrived, a 24-year-old woman told police that an adult male allegedly physically assaulted her during an argument, displayed a handgun, and fired one round before fleeing on foot. She sustained minor injuries and declined medical treatment. Officers searched the area but did not locate the suspect at the time.

Police later identified Jalyn R. Grinslade, 29, as the suspect in the August incident.

On Friday, November 21, 2025, at around 2:44 a.m., officers located a vehicle associated with Grinslade parked again in the 4000 block of North Brandywine. Officers reported seeing a handgun in plain view inside the vehicle. A search warrant was obtained, and detectives recovered the firearm before towing the vehicle as part of the ongoing investigation.

Later that day, at approximately 1:35 p.m., detectives observed Grinslade entering a business in the 3300 block of North University Street. He was taken into custody without incident.

Police say Grinslade was arrested on charges including aggravated domestic battery, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and aggravated assault with a firearm. Officers also confirmed he had multiple active warrants involving aggravated assault and aggravated discharge allegations. He was transported to the Peoria County Jail.

This investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Peoria Police at (309) 673-4521 or submit anonymous tips through tip411 or Crime Stoppers.
